SO for tomorrow i am doing a 3 tiered cake. The bottom is 14 in. and has buttercream on it and will be covered in fondant. One side seems to be bulging.....It is currently chilling in the fridge as I am filling and icing the other 2 cakes, but will the fondant help keep that side from sliding off? does anyone have any tricks that I can try to fix it with. I am assuming that more b/c on that side will make it heavier and fall more...Help!! icon_cry.gif

If all the layers were level, the bulge is likely too much filling?

The fondant will not hold that in, the fondant will bulge too.

I would remove the excess filling and re-crumb coat.

If your layers were not even, it could be an even bigger problem.

I agree with Joann....remove the fondant and scrape off the excess filling.

Ok So I went back to the cake and cut the area that was bulging, re-iced and then covered with fondant and viola! It looked fine and you couldn't even tell where the problem area was!! Thanks so much icon_biggrin.gif
