i am going to make a breifcase cake for a 5th bday spy party. i want to stay away from black buttercream because of the black mouth effect (HAHA). suggestions? i have on hand dark chocolate fondant, but i dont know if i want to do it black as i am also making a black 3d round bomb with a fuse, and a BLACK magnifying glass over a black (haha) fingerprint. should i do silver for the briefcase? brown? aack, i am really stuck. here is the partywear

If you have white fondant on hand, I would do the briefcase in silver. If not, and since you already have dark choco fondant, do the briefcase in brown (so you don't have to add any color to the fondant).

I prefer doing it in silver though as it will match the silver on the magnifying glass, and you can put the black fingerprint (with the magnifying glass) on the silver briefcase.

and silver is just so much more high-tech, james bondish!

(but yep, brown you have so lower cost and ease)

actually i do have vanilla fondant too...i was just thinking that IF i did black, its easier to color the chocolate fondant a true black.

so if i do it with vanilla, i'll tint it grey, then paint over it with super pearl/silver mix.

well, here they are. i did them quickly, but i really dig how the bomb turned out. it CERTAINLY isnt easy to cover a round ball in fondant!

the briefcase was well...rushed. i dont really care for it much, other than one little detail which i threw on at the end and ended up really liking. the combination numbers on the lock read out his birth date.

went with the silver. thanks for your help!
