I am in the middle of making a cake for tomorrow and I have just used the Whimsical Bakehouse buttercream(non-crusting) recipe. My question is this....

If I put my MMF accents on the cake tonight, will they 'sweat' or melt in the fridge? I don't need to keep the cake in the fridge, but thought it might make it sturdier as the buttercream will be harder.

I haven't done a cake like this(usually all BC or all MMF) and would really appreciate hearing from those who have!!

Thanks so much!

Welcome to CC!

If they are mmf decos that will sit flat on the cake they can go in the fridge with no problems. They might sweat a bit when you take them out but just don't touch them and the condensation will evaporate and they will look just the same. But if they are something 3-d like a rose, etc. the fridge will soften them and potentially ruin them.

And you are right a well chilled cake is strudier and transports better.

Good luck with your cake.
