agagnier, I am completely inspired by your cakes! I LOVE the sweet 16 guitar cake and the volleyball cake! I am SO inspired I can barely stand it! It's just too bad I'm at work and can't get my hands on some frosting and a cake!

Thanks everyone for the nice comments, I am very proud of my cakes! I may only do sheet cakes, but I try to never do the same cake twice!!!
GaPeach: It is so interesting to see someone else's take on the same theme! I also did a sheet cake to coordinate with the 1st Birthday Girl partyware (I linked to it on page 8...ending with "30328"). They are 2 very different takes on the same thing. Yours is so creative!!!
I would love to see an "inspiration" contest on CC. There could be a pattern or design to theme the cakes around, it would be so interesting to me to see all the different visions from the variety of decorators here.
This is an amazing thread with amazing work from everyone. Can I ask what must seem to you all to be the dumbest question in the world? I'm just not familiar with the term 'sheet cake' but have taken it to mean a rectangle shape cake. Am I right here?

pretty much in rectangular cake that is normally* NOT torted or stacked like more traditional shapes. main sizes being 9x13, 11x15, 12x18, 18x24(this one usually 2 12x18 side by side)
*note: I said "normally" --- there are some 
:cough, cough: who don't know what normal is and happily tort and stack them too

I just read your post to my husband and his comment was to 1. either buy her her own professional cake and say "there' but i told him I wouldn't give her that satisfaction- she doesn't like it- dont' eat it!.
2. he agreed with the others on telling her to make it herself
and i like #3. he said to make her a special (coughcough) shaped cake and tell her where to stick it. (polishes halo)
When i first joined this forum, I saw somebody looking for a Louis Vuitton bag cake. I posted my pic. of my LV cake. It was a sheetcake. When I was following the thread, I was sinking with each post of cakes that looked like actual LV bags .. leather.. buckles! Up until then, I thought cakes were ALL sheetcakes or tiered cakes and had no idea about all these 3D cakes!

I just ran into another sheet cake that I loved. Its a 50th Anniversary Cake and we get these quite often at the bakery, so that's why I like it so much, its not a way out there cake, just very nicely done by 3tiers

As a newbie, I want to say thanks to all the wonderful folks who share their talent with us on a frequent basis! Not only by displaying your cakes for us to see and be inspired by but also the many PMs that have been answered, willingly providing information, tips, advice, etc. I so very much appreciate it!!! I will just just be glad with I can decorate too! Sheetcake, round cake, square cake, sphere cake.....I would be happy with whatever shape if I can just DECENTLY decorate the crazy thing! LOL!!
