This will probably sound silly to you guys but can someone tell me what a crumb crust is and how it is made. I see it written about a lot but have no idea what it is and I can't understand why you want crumbs near your icing. Do you use it just for buttercream icing or also with fondant.
Are you meaning a crumb coat? That is when you ice on a very thin layer of icing and not care if the crumbs get in it. Then you let that crust over and then ice lice normal. The crumb coat seals in all the crumbs so that you do not get any in your main icing coat. HTH
Hey thanks missyek that makes a bit more sense I thought it was a special icing or something.
I'm going to try some buttercream from one the recipes here but couldn't find any info on crumb coat.
I've not used is before I usually use fondant.
Thanks for the info ![]()
