Looking for a strawberry cake recipe to be used as a wedding cake. Has any one used The Cake Doctor's recipe for Triple Strawberry Cake? I don't know how this would work to double/triple seems like a lot of oil to do so.
I'm making a 14,12,10 & 8 layer. Please help. This wedding is Saturday June 2.
Thanks

Here's one I get a lot of requests for:
Strawberry Cake
1 box white cake mix (Duncan Hines)
1 small box strawberry Jell-o
3/4 c. vegetable oil
4 eggs
1/2 c. water
1/2 pint frozen whole strawberries, thawed & chopped finely in blender
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix together cake mix and Jell-0. Add oil, eggs, and water and mix with mixer for 2 minutes. Add strawberries until well blended. Pour in greased and floured pans. Turn oven down to 325 degrees. Bake til done.
(2 recipes = 1 - 14" round pan. Bake for about an hour.)
Also, to ensure a very moist cake, I always wrap my cakes in Saran Wrap as soon as they're done (after they've rested for 10 minutes in the pan). This helps hold all the moisture in as the cake cools. I do this with all my cakes.
I've made the Triple Strawberry cake from the Cakemix Doctor (made it this weekend, in fact!), but I use less oil. It's really good and the recipe is similar to the one posted.
This is one of my favorite cake combos: strawberry cake with lemon cream cheese filling. It is to die for!
Can anyone tell me if this is a firm enough texture to use in sculpted cakes ?
Thanks

TOMAY ~ I, personally, would not sculpt it. It makes a dense cake but I don't think it will hold up to scupting. Sorry
Wow Steady2Hands that strawberry cake recipe is awesome!!!
I made it today and am having to restrain myself from eating all the cupcakes.
Thanks for sharing
That recipe looks awesome! I can't wait to try it out!
Thanks so much for posting it, Steady2Hands!
Steady2hands, I've been looking for a good strawberry cake recipe. Thanks!! This sounds delish, I'll try it soon.

Thank you, will definitely try this one! Do you have it listed in the recipe section here?
I do something similar.
1 white cake mix and use the extender recipe. Then add 1 small box strawberry jello and 4 oz pureed strawberries in syrup.
Tastes great.

Sounds fantastic!! I'm going to try it this weekend!!
Thanks for posting! Can you use fresh strawberries? Would you need to puree them?
Thanks you all. I've been considering adding it to the recipe section but I wanted to go through all the strawberry cake recipes to make sure this isn't the same as any others. I'll do that today (or I'll procrastinate some more ).
As far as fresh strawberries, I don't see why you couldn't use them as long as they're pureed. It would be worth a try.
I just added the Strawberry Cake recipe and I also seperatley added the Strawberry Icing recipe. I'm not sure how long it will take for them to show up since I've never added a recipe before.
I've always used Buttercream Icing on my strawberry cakes so I could decorate them. It would probably be good to use the icing as a filling or even mix the strawberry & buttercream icings together for the filling.
