Hi all,

Making a chocolate cake decorated with Elmo this weekend. I am blanking out on what filling I should use. Do any of you have proven kid-friendly combinations for filling and chocolate cake? Was thinking banana, or bavarian cream, but wanted to do something a bit different. Help please!!!!

For kids, I vote on cookies and cream filling=) Here is the recipe on CC for it, although there are many versions. I did mine by crushing up the cookies and just adding it to my BC, it was very yummy! Jen

Honestly every kid I've seen with cake just licks the buttercream off. So that's what I recommend to people who want a cake for kids. Buttercream filling and frosting. The more the better. icon_smile.gif

My kids like Nutella, white chocolate ganache, chocolate ganache, pudding, mousse to name a few.

I was also going to suggest just going with bc, or a flavored bc....most of my customers don't order fillings when it is a kid's cake, or they order chocolate mousse, cookies and cream, etc.

If you are sure none of the children have peanut allergies the Peanut Butter Cup filling I posted is really delicious.

i would avoid anything with nuts.
I would go w/either regular BC or cookies n cream filling.

Snack pack pudding cups are always popular with kids.

My vote is either cookies & cream or buttercream with vanilla flavoring.

I always worry about using peanuts/peanut butter when kids are involved. All three of my kids have nut allergies so our house is nut free. You have to be careful with that...nut allergies can be deadly!! That's just my opinion...but I always think it's better to be safe than sorry. Of course, if you know for a fact no one has peanut/nut allergies, I love peanut butter!!
