I'm making some cupcakes for my daughters 1st birthday. Which would be better. Should I make some with chocolate frosting and rainbow sprinkles to match the invitations, or should I make something like the ones below. I like the idea of having them match the invitations but those would be simple ones that anyone could do. Or should I make something like these? What do you think?

Agreed, I would go with the pretty ones. They are not too difficult, and they look amazing. Do you have a cupcake stand? They look fantastic on a stand!

First of all, those invites are ADORABLE!!!!

I like the idea of matching, so I vote for the chocolate frosting ones!

Or...if you are feeling really crazy, you could replace the candles with #1's cut from fondant- dry them and decorated with the colored polka dots.

I think you should make some like the picture you posted using the pastel colors from the invite. If you really want to match the invitation, you could make a single jumbo cupcake iced in chocolate with sprinkles for your daughter's smash cake. You could place that at the top of the cupcake stand or elevate it on a platter somehow so it stands out. You could even add the pink and white striped candle. I think that would be adorable!

I agree with camcat. Make a "jumbo" cupcake with the choc frosting and pastel sprinkles for the smash cake and pastel pretty cupcakes to go with it.

I agree with the idea of a giant cupcake in chocolate icing with sprinkles to smash. And the pastel ones to match. Either way will be cute icon_smile.gif

2 large choc cupcake with a large pink and white striped candle made from fondant (or cookie) - the rest iced (or fondant covered) in pale green with fondant polka dots - could even do some in stripes with those colors as well.

How about icing the cupcakes in the pastel colors of the invites (so many of each color depending on how many you need) with a recreation of the number one from the invite on top (make a template of the number 1, cut out of white fondant with fondant polka dots).

Or if you want to get really creative you could make a fondant sheet of the striped backround in your invites, then cut out circles to fit the tops of the cupcakes and add the fondant "number 1's" with the polka dots.

Ok hopefully that makes sense.... I can see it better than I can explain it icon_confused.gif
