Ok, I am about to order the americolor food colors, and I was looking at the other stuff on this site. Is shimmer dust and luster dust the same thing? Has anyone used the stuff from this site? Tell me what ya know gals icon_biggrin.gif

Here is another topic similiar to your question.

But quick answer is no. The topsy turvy cake in my photos has shimmer dust on the butterflies (i don't have any cakes up loaded with luster dust)

Luster dust is like a powder like substance, and shimmer dust is a little bit courser.

Thanks a bunch, I think im going to wait till my class in aug so that I dont mess it up. There are many simple things I need to practice between now and then to keep me busy, but Im going ahead with the americolors.

The shimmer dust on this site looks like the Wilton shimmer dust which is NOT anything like luster dust. It is just finely crushed cake sparkels and will give you an okay sparkle look. Do not mix with with vanilla or alcohol--you will end up with a big mess! Just sprinkle on the area of your cake that you want them.
