I am going to be making a white cake, due to the request, and need to color it red. I have red red Wilton color, but, I don't know how much it will take to turn it RED and not pink. Any suggestions? Help, please
The only problem with that is I have to make it for this weekend, and no time to order something online and the colors I have access to in town are Wilton. Do you know if it will work with the Red Red?
LOTS!!!!!!!! That is how much it will take. I have used wilton colors alot. Tint it pink first with a pink color and than after it is a dark pink, add the red, that will cut down on the amount of color you will have to add. If it is not turning a true red, you can add some burgandy. That will help. Let us know how it turns out.
I would image that it is going to start to taste pretty bad. It would not end up being a white cake flavor after all of the color is added.
Could you convince them to go with a light chocolate flavor, that would help you get to the red color faster.
You could add some coco powder to your mix then use the methods suggested above to get to red.
Yes, you can use regular red food coloring, and be sure not to put egg yolks into your white cake batter. The yellow of the yolks changes the color.
Good luck, and let us know how it turned out.
ok, does chocolate cake mix color red easier then white cake mix? It doesn't seem like it would, being that it is darker, but, if you have had experience with it, please let me know.
I say grab a couple bottles of McCormick red food coloring or americolor gels ......the McCormick is sold at the grocery store....I think they're 1oz. bottles........two would definitely get you a nice dark red!!! The wilton will get it red too......but unless you have the "no taste red" by Wilton it will make the cake taste horribly bitter!!!!!
