I think I have, but I love to watch them again. Thanks!
I saw one episode a few months ago and the topic was cakes or something along those lines. The host visited one cake shop and they rolled their fondant out with what looked like an enormous pasta roller. The store owner put the fondant through the machine 2 or 3 times and it was the perfect thickness. I was so jealous!
I think that thing is called a Sheeter and from my understanding, it's very expensive which totally sucks. I wish there was an affordable version for at home.... maybe it wouldn't be big enough to roll out enough fondant for a 16 in. cake, but if they could make one that could at least roll fondant for a 10 - 12 in cake.... it wouldn't be ideal, but it would be a great improvement!
I missed it!!! My DH canceled it because Blade the series was coming on!!! (How rude) Does anyone know if it is coming on again?
I was kind of disappointed with last nights episode. He rolled out the fondant and everything and put it on the cake and cut around the cake but he didn't show how to smooth it down onto the cake so you don't get creases. What's up with that? That's the most important part of doing the fondant. They probably didn't show it because he has the same problem getting it smooth as we do!!
From this site, I got a link (sorry, don't have it) to the Ateco site, which has a video tutorial on how to smooth fondant -- he made it look so easy!
There's other tutorials there too -- how to marbelize, and how to crimp, etc. Really great if you're set up for video streaming.
