So I was bidding on this set of pans that I really want. There wasn't much bidding going on so I bid in the last hour...high bid, $10. ok, that's fine...I outbid the other person at like $4.50 or something...

Then, I studiously refresh in the last minutes to make sure nobody is even trying to outbid. There isn't any bids up to the last minute so I'm having fun hitting refresh, hitting refresh, watching the seconds go down. It's at 3 seconds and suddenly some person swoops in and outbids me. I quickly put in a higher bid and hit submit but it's too late. That person outbid me at literally the last second. WTH?? Is this because of those programs or whatever you can buy? Isn't that against the rules to use those programs?? Seriously, I'm pissed off I need those pans. I just wish I'd have put in a higher high bid so at least that person would have had to pay an outrageous amount for them. Ah well, that would have backfired too icon_sad.gif

Sorry this happened to you.
Not a program, just a strategy some people use. thumbsdown.gif I've been a victim of that too, but the rules say... you can be outbid even at the last second. You can increase your high bid amount without increasing your bid. When they swoop in, your high bid can still win. (you have to decide the highest you will go). That way, you can walk away at least knowing you wouldn't have paid higher than that anyway.

yeah, I should have upped it a little. It just totally blind-sided me. I put a lower high bid before so that it wouldn't be bid up too high then. I should have upped it later though in case something like this were to happen. I didn't think about this happening. I was just watching it so close! I didn't think anyone would be so quick.

Aww I'm sorry. I have had that happen to me a few times, it's so frustrating. They probably waited till the last 3 seconds to hit "Enter" so you wouldnt have time to out bid them. Perhaps you will get lucky and come across an even better deal later on.

ha! You evil person! icon_razz.gif I joke because I'm getting over it and bidding/winning other auctions that either include one pan or have other cool pans with them and such...I was just so sure I'd had it won icon_rolleyes.gif

Thats good that you are getting some good bids. Sometimes people cheat and dont do the nice thing but im sure karma will bite her in the butt if she is cheating using a program. Keep getting those cool pans and if you see a really good one send it my way icon_smile.gif

guilty of "vulturing" a thing I want.

but....I've found it much easier to set my bid to the maximum I'm willing to pay including S&H and then just let whatever happens, happen.

and petal pans are still available: (maybe not the bargain you "might" get on eBay -- don't forget to add shipping!)

yes, I'm going to have to just go ahead and set it at my highest bid and let the system take it's course, like you said...

I already have a petal pan set. I just wanted to have the 9 in pans so that if I get an order for a 9 inch petal cake, I can do one recipe for the two pans and cook at once. With the set, you have to cook one layer at a time and I just needed the one size to fix that problem. Thanks for the links though icon_smile.gif
