I do no have this item but I am going to borrow it from a friend.

Does any one happen to know if I can use my own pans and not the ones that come with the set to bake in? I notices looking at the pans last weekend at her house, that they flared and are not a straight up and down sides.

Also, how many cake mixes do you use to bake three layers and how many serving would you get from the three layer, 8 inch cake?

Thank you for all of your help. Everyone is so knowlegable here!!

I have used the pans, and if you are generous with the icing, the flare does not show at all. It is important that the divider be set firmly in the cake pan, or one color will leak into the other.

the instructions call for one cake mix, but I used two and made some cupcakes with the left over.

I found it easier to use a pastry bag to fill the pans. Cake batter is messy to try to spoon into the sections.

Because it will be fairly tall, the cake should serve 10 to 16 depending on how you cut it.

Thank you. I think I will bake two to make sure that I have enough serving.
