I am making a stacked fondant-covered cake today. I want to pipe a bead border between each of the cakes (i.e. where the 6 inch cake sits on the 9 inch cake, etc). What type of icing is best? I was thinking of making a royal icing, or should I use a buttercream?

Thanks!
Jess

you can use either...I usually use buttercream so that when you cut it, it's not hard. But it's all personal preference, I think.

At this time of year I prefer to use royal - just because it doesn't melt!
