i am vey new and have decided to take on a 3d castle cake for june 25 or 26th my main problem is i dont start the actual baking until the night before then im up until 3 or 4 in the morning so im looking for advice on when to bake the cake and make the frosting so all i have to do is basically decorate the night before
any suggestions would be greatly appriciated you have truley inspired me (no kidding) im going cake crazy i want to try everything now now now!!!
You can bake now and freeze the cakes. I did this for a wedding cake i had last weekend - the wedding was a Saturday and i work M-F - I baked the weekend before, wrapped well in plastic wrap and put in freezer bags. I used the crisco buttercream and made that a week ahead also. This way you have it all done and can devote your time to decorating.
Definately bake and freeze your cakes about 1 week ahead of time. In my opinion, freezing the cakes locks in the moisture and makes the cakes taste better. You can also make your buttercream in advance, I would stick with about 1 week. Completely defrost the cake the day before and decortate! Good Luck!
thank you so much-i will bake a week ahead of time anf freeze i thought it would lose its quality but you are the experts
