Can I color the basic glaze recipe on Penny's Cookies page? Or Toba's glace? I'm not exactly sure what a glaze will look like. Is it just a shiny royal icing?

Anyone use it and recommend it?

Thanks
Phyllis

I always use Toba's glace. It is shiny and it is soft to the bite but very durable you can stack, bag, whatever. You can't pipe details so I use royal for the details only.

The glaze I use (same ingredients as Penny's) is almost transparent and forms a shell on the cookie. It can be tinted if you wish to do so.

Does Toba's glaze dry hard though? I need to be able to stack cookies on top of one another without messing them up. Is this possible?

toba's glace dries hard enough to stack and/or bag. it takes a lot longer though...15 - 24 hours.

Here's a multi-linked cookie bouquet thread that has recipes for cookies and frosting/icing/glazes and comparisons between the different ones.

Also has info on stacking, sticks, bags and foam.

Also has more than you ever wanted to know about rolled buttercream (with recipes), which can be used on cookies or cakes.

Toba's glace is more of the backround icing then you can pipe royal over it if you'd like. In her class Toba used the glace in the backround then put dots of more glace on top and ran a toothpick through it. It gave it a really cool look. It's in my pics if you want to see them.

It's not true that you can't pipe details with Toba's glace icing. I've done it quite a bit. My earlier pictures: valentine, snowflake, wedding cookies and some others were all done with this icing.
I've been using Antonia's icing for the past year because of it's quicker drying time. But, I do like the way Toba's icing shines.

I didn't say you couldn't pipe with Toba's , I am saying that I personally use it as a backround, thats all.
