hello,
i tried wilton candy clay recipe for the 1st time last night. the instructions are to melt the candy pieces, then add 1/3 cup corn syrup and mix. so, i did that, and it came together prettty good, then when i rolled it out onto plastic wrap, it seemd to break. the oil started to separate. so i picked up small pieces and kneaded them to a better consistency. the ils that had escaped hardened on their own and the mixture seeems pretty nice, but i have not worked with it yet. i am wondering what to expect from it-if it will work properly or if i need to start over. does the mixture usually have this kind of reaction? or did i do something wrong? thanks! jenny

Nope this is how it should be, you didn't do anything wrong. When you start to work with it today the oil will incorporate and it won't look like a mess anymore. I also thought I ruined my first batch, but it worked perfectly!

It does look pretty funky at first but it will be fine.
