Ever since I saw the castle cakes on this site, I've been wanting to try one. I thought for sure one of my daughters that had birthdays coming up would want one. Well, my 5 year old's birthday was in May and she was set on Hello Kitty. My soon to be 7 year said she wanted a castle cake until just a couple days ago (party is this weekend). I tried showing her pictures because she's very girly and likes all the princess stuff. She commented she wanted something with daisies on it like I did for my cake class. Okay, I pull out my course two book and show her some pictures. We're flipping through and she see's the cupcakes with the color flow faces on them and says she wants those. Okay, at least there's still some creativity decorating the faces. Today we went to Hobby Lobby to get some supplies and she sees the premade royal icing decorations and wants those. LOL - so now it's just cupcakes with those things on top. I did convince her she wanted cake sparkles on too (so I had an excuse to buy them).

I told my husband he's getting a chocolate castle cake for father's day!

That's too cute! I'm sure your husband will let you have fun with his father's day cake. At least he can "most likely" say that he was the only father to get a castle cake for father's day. LOL

Great idea for Father's Day! He may be King of the Castle but your the one cleaning the moat and feeding the crocodiles! icon_lol.gif

Good luck with your castle cake! Can't wait to see the pics!!

Boy, you really gotta get 'em young. I did a castle cake for my granddaughter's 1st birthday--no argument from her (lol). Love the idea of a chocolate castle for Dad.

I told him it's because he's king of the castle LOL. Maybe I'll actually treat him and not make him clean up after me! I'm usually asking him to clean something that I need to use again and since he usually does the dishes anyway, he's the one doing all the clean up when I'm done. HMMMM - maybe on other hand I won't make him a cake LOL. icon_biggrin.gif
