How do you mix Gum Tex with fondant? Do you just add a certain amount of dry Gum Tex powder to the fondant or do you combine gum paste with fondant?

Is it easier to make figures with regular fondant or MMF?

Thanks for your help!

It helps the fondant dry faster and harder. You only need 1/4 tsp per pound. I guess you can make figures if you want.

I Googled it, lol, and found this:

"Exact measurement of gum-tex to fondant is 1 teaspoon to 12 oz fondant. Since I never use that much fondant, I just guesstimate and put a bit in the fondant. Knead it together thoroughly.

Note: gum-tex strengthens the fondant to make it more stretchable and dries the fondant harder, quicker."

Thanks!

Does the gum-tex change the flavor of the mmf fondant?

I didn't taste it, but I wouldn't imagine such a small amount of a flavorless substance wouldn't effect it much. Besides, I really haven't seen many people eat the fondant on their cake slice.
