Hi everyone, my daughter has decided for her birthday next month, she would like a mermaid cake, I love the 3d cakes, however, I am a newbie at this, no nothing to to difficult...lol..Thanks Barbara

what about making a barbie doll cake but instead of the big mound of cake being the dress make it look like a big rock and just use frosting or fondant to make the fin coming down....like the mermaid is sitting on a rock?? Let me see if I can find something like what I'm talking about....I have a pic. in a cake dec. book but don't have a scanner....

this is the one that's in my book!!! Only thing is I'm selling my house and I've packed up all the books.....looks like they just covered her legs with the scales and put her on a mound cake and covered it with chocolate.....and I believe it called for choc. covered raisins for the rocks, brown sugar sand, and candy shells. HOpe some of these help out
