It has been a horrible day here. My son and his family just moved here (East Texas) a couple of months ago and have had a hard time getting settled in, you know, finding jobs and such. Well, my son finally gets the job he's wanted for ages (off-shore drilling) and goes out for the first time this week. We were all so excited for him. You see, the last couple of years have been very very hard for our family...my dad got sick with cancer and just 5 months before he died my younger brother was diagnosed with cancer too and died in 5 weeks. My son was very attached to his grandfather and uncle and has had a hard time with their loss. So, he gets this great job, goes out to work and while he is gone their beloved black lab gets out and gets killed on the road. My son just got home tonite and Lord, it was so hard seeing him so broken up over that dog. He's had to deal with so much loss and as tough and grown up as he tries to be...well, he's a marshmellow under it all. His heart is broken with yet again another loss. And mine is broken just watching him.
I understand about your children hurting and not being able to kiss the booboo away. God bless you and your family through this difficult time. My deepest sympathy for the loss of the dad and your brother. I'm also sorry for the loss of his lab. He will heal yours and your family's pained heart.
Lovincake, I am sending a big 'ol hug your way... please share it with your son. I understand that feeling of your pet being a real member of your family, so it's a serious loss. It is heartbreaking. And it brings to the surface those other feelings of loss that he is probably trying so hard to bury. God bless, and remember, tomorrow is a new day... it WILL get better!!
I'm so sorry to hear about all that you have been through . . .
Its never easy to lose a loved one, human or animal.
Don't you just wish you could take the hurt away for him??? Thats always the hardest part . . . not being able to take the pain on for them.
Have faith, your obviously a strong family and will pull through.
Linda, I feel so much for you and your son... I can imagine how he must hurt and you, as well. Things will get a little bit better with time, though it is hard. My mother was going through a lot last year: She lost her husband, then her dachsund (16 ys. old) had a stroke and passed, then she got assaulted and carjacked on her birthday! It was too much. I had her move in with me that week! About a month after moving in with me, her parrot died. She cried so much... I thought my own heart would break for her. But now it's been almost a full year since the first tragedy, and she moved out into her own apartment. She is getting better and better day by day. I will pray for you and your son (all of your family) for the speedy recovery of your hearts. I'm so sorry, truly. I'd like to reach thru the computer and hug you all right now; God will pull you all through. I know it ![]()
So sorry to hear of everything you and your family have been through. As a mother I know how it feels to see your children suffer because you hurt when they do. Give your son a hug from me. Hoping and praying things start looking up soon.
