I want to make a dummy cake to enter in my county fair. I was thinking of using drywall spackling paste to cover the dummies which I can sand, but has anyone tried this with royal icing?

You can definitely sand royal icing as long as you give it a couple of days to dry. I just took the Wilton's Master Course and we sanded our dummies for our final wedding cake projects. We used the sandpaper blocks. Some of us just went out back and use the sidewalk. thumbs_up.gif Worked like a charm.

Thank you. I figured you could, but I am glad to know someone else has tried it successfully.
