Alright here we go. I had someone tell me today that kroger had a better tasting cake than mine. I have never had anyone tell me this. It does have me down and feeling depressed. I use a recipe from the cake doctor. With one box cake mix, 1/2 c sugar, 1 c flour, 1 c sour cream, salt, vanilla, eggs, Is this a good recipe. Does anyone else use this. I dont use the mix with the pudding, but is the one with pudding good and good to work with. I also use butter for my cake. Any ideas for a good moist cake or should I just be happy and let one bad comment go. I think I have to be perfect. Thanks for any help everyone. One last thing are there any other mixes that can be bought that are better than others.

Given the amount of stuff you add to your cake mix you might as well bake from scratch, it really is not any more work. I really like this recipe:

It has similar qualities to a cake mix cake, but it has no chemical taste at all. I have used it a lot recently and have had rave reviews from everyone who have tried it. I have also baked it adding some orange peel / orange extract for an orange variation.

sometimes it's just a matter of taste. In our house, none of us like the whipped cream icing that is used at Kroger. When someone tells hubby "Kroger's icing is delicious!", he will ask them, "Now which is it ..... Kroger icing? or Delicious? Because it can't be both!"

I say just let it slide. It's one comment.

Also take in account that they have supermarket taste. They would not know a great tasting cake if it bit them in the a... Don't fret thier loss not yours. Keep on baking.

I've used your recipe and LOVE it....tastes very much like a scratch cake! I would forget about this one lousy comment, as personally, I think Kroger's has one of the worst tasting cakes ever made! Everyone's taste buds are different though!

That was one person....Don't take it to heart! How many people have told you that your cake WAS DELICIOUS??? Keep them in mind....not the person that didn't like it!
