What Is A Poke Cake??

I've seen this here a few times, but have no idea what it is. Any pics? explanation as to what it is?

As I understand it, a poke cake is a regular cake that you poke holes into after baking and then pour pudding/jello liquid/syrup/sauce/etc over it so it seeps into the holes.

There's two kinds I know of. There's the traditional Southern poke cake, then there's the kind you "poke" with a straw or fork and put syrup or some other flavored thick liquid into so it goes down into the cake. As far as what's on this site???? I don't know. Maybe I just made things more confusing icon_smile.gif.

this is what I always referred to as a poke cake
