Just bought some hi-ratio shortening, but I don't like the taste using it cup-for-cup as a Crisco replacement.
Anyone have any recipes specifically for hi-ratio shortening, or any successful adaptations.
With the upcoming hot weather, I need a frosting that will be more heat stable - son's having a garden wedding in August.
Thanks so much for your help!
bump - hoping for a little help here.
Couldn't find any recipes in my CC database search.
Anyone?????
This is a recipe I use...
2 cups shortening (I use high ratio)
1 cup butter
2 lbs powdered sugar
2 tsp clear vanilla (I use butter-vanilla)
Hot water added one tsp. at a time until you get the consistency you want.
It's very creamy and not overly sweet...
There was a lenghty forum about this in this site and I can not find them now . you can visit this link : http://www.cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=1353&postdays=0&postorder=asc&&start=15. I forgot the page but i do know the person who contributed the hi-ratio recipe it is CECULSK.
... I found it and its on page 5.
Thanks so much for the recipe TamiAZ.
And donnadol, thanks for the thread, and the recipe.
