Can I substitue royal icing with stiff bc while making flowers? A daisy, primrose, and maybe a violet are what I am looking at. Do you make them the same way you would with royal? Thanks in advance.

Thank you so much. I am making a bonett for a Mother's Day BBQ and I didn't want to just use roses. This really opens up the door for me! thumbs_up.gif

The only ones I can think of that you can't do in BC are the bigger ones; like the petunia, the lily, the morning glory, because they use the lily nail set and need to dry, and never really would with BC. The flat ones should be fine in BC.

If you use the BC recipe - use the one that calls for shortening only (no butter). When you make the flowers - let them air dry for 24 hrs and they will harden somewhat (not like royal icing hard though) but it'll make it easier to handle them. Or you can freeze them so you can handle them easier.

Yes, freezing them makes them very easy to handle; if you have alot of flowers to deal with, you can do like I do and just leave them in the freezer and go and get what you need as you need it, because they defrost quickly, and get soft again!

Thanks for the tips. I can always use the advice. I actually did put them in the freezer for a few minutes. Worked out perfectly. I always know I can count on you guys.
