I've seen a lot of cakes that have a ribbon border around them. I was just wondering how you get the ribbon to stay in place on the cake. Do you use buttercream or do you wet the fondant? Thanx!

If it is a fondant ribbon on a fondant covered cake, you can just wet the fondant to make it stick. For fabric ribbon on a buttercream or fondant cake, I use dots of icing to keep it in place.

On my fondant ribbon on a fondant cake, I used a thin stripe of buttercream to adhere the ribbon to the cake. It worked out well and was easy. Never really thought about dampening it; I guess because I have some trouble getting bows to adhere with just vanilla.
