I have to do a cake for saturday. The person wants some daisies coming out of the top of the cake. She gave me a picture. The wire is covered in fondant with a daisy attached.

First of all, do I make the daisy in plain fondant, or should I add gumtex for it to harden? How much gumtex do I add to the fondant?

How do I stick the daisy to the fondant covered wire?

How do I stick this in my cake without it flopping over?

PLEASE HELP!

I'd love to know too, CakeCraze. I love the look of fondant decorations mounted on wire and stuck into the cake. It always looks so festive. I'm dying to try it, but wasn't sure how to go about it either.

I'd like to know too! I think these decorations look so cute.

I have read that you should wrap the part of the wire that goes into the cake with something food safe like tin foil or plastic wrap.

I 1st make the central yellow part and stick the wire in that. Let it dry Then push the flower from the back, place a drop of glue or water in the centre of the flower and press on to the yellow centre
When the flower is dry, I put the calex on, and that gives it more support.

I dont like to cover the wire in fondant, I use green florist tape.

Also I dont stick wires directly into the cakes, but use flowerpics.

To get the wire to stay in the flower, you can put a small hook on the end of the wire and then pull that into the flower. (use needle nose pliers)
