I'm going to try making a gift cake with three layers. I have a couple of questions-
1. Do you frost the top of the first layer before you place the second, or just frost around it.
2. Do use the exact size of the cake boards for each individual gift?

Yes, completely frost all tiers before you are ready to stack them. It's a lot easier this way because you dont have to worry about messing up the one underneath it.

Yes, the board should be the exact size of the cake so wont be able to see that it is there.
