Can you use the candy mold, soap mold etc. to form fondant then lay them on cookies for designs? Does this make since?
I saw a mold of praying hands, and thought how cute it would be for a cookie.
yes you can. just sift a little cornstarch in the mold before so you the fondant won't stick.
I use them a lot too. My favorite are the seashells for cakes. I also put them in the freezer to set.
You can also just use the chocolate melts instead of fondant.
I just bought some cute silicone ones at Joanne they are made for sculpey clay. One is pets, one has hands feet and faces, one is sea animals and the last is teddy bears. So cute! (they were on clearance for 2.97 too!)
Joanne's, Michael's and Hobby lobby - I bought some sclupey ones and some plastic ones for glycerine soap.
I have bought dozens from Country Kitchen Sweet Art. Fabulous selection and very reasonable prices!!! This is a quick and easy way for me to add "unique" touches to my cakes. I LOVE candy molds!
I've also bought tons from Country Kitchen Sweet Art. Love them! In the future, I'll have to check out eBay first. (Can't believe I didn't think of that before? Duh! LOL )
I think I am going to try the praying hands on a cookie. I never thought about my candy molds.Great Idea...Thanks
Don't forget to take advantage of the clay molds too. I got some teddy bears, a bee hive, and some art deco designs. The teddy bears on by babyshower hatbox cake were done with clay molds.
