I'm making a mermaid cake for my daughter next weekend with the mermaid sitting on the rock, you've seen it before, I'm sure. Anyway I don't have the wondermold pan, but I have a oven safe pyrex thing that is the right shape I need. Any thoughts on how to bake a cake that will turn out. Special cake recipe? Can I use something for a heating core?

What is the pyrex thing like? Is it a bowl or a big measuring cup? Instead of using a wondermold for my daughters doll cake, I used the pampered chef 8 cup measuring bowl. It was the perfect shape. I cooked it low and slow, I believe it was 325 for 50 to 60 minutes. I checked it a lot towards the end to make sure it did not burn. It turned out great.
