Do you have a good food processor? How fine do you need them?

Hand held electric blender? Refered to as a boat motor by some - I use mine to make nut butters with all types of nuts, so smarties should crush up pretty fine.

What are the crushed smarties for??

The hand held blender would probably work better. I have one, and that thing can crush anything. I got it at wal mart, and it didn't cost much at all.

I use an espresso tamper for crushing stuff. It has a nice flat bottom, and I'm able to get enough pressure to crush. I have another one for crushing my cat's pills - it even breaks through the coating.

I would use a coffee grinder (cleaned from residual coffee beans, of course).

OK, what about used a dish towel inside of the baggy? Put a handful of smarties on the towel fold the towel over and hit it with the meat mallet.

This is my method for crushing stuff...

Put in a big plastic bag and roll over it with the rolling pin.

It really works.

I was thinking the dish towel inside the baggie to. Smarties are pretty hard and I think if you put them in a food processor they would just fly around.

Double bag, light dish towel over the top and then roll over them with a rolling pin?

Hmmm...I've never had any problem crushing smarties when I put them between my teeth and bite down hard. (hehehee)

Seriously, do you have a mortar & pestle? Or like other people said, how about putting them in a ziploc bag and rolling a rolling pin over them? The meat tenderizer will just tear the baggie, however, I would think that the rolling pin will gently break the smarties without too much damage to the bag.

What about a pill crusher. The kind you drop pills into and twist the top until they turn to a fine powder.

Or could you use Pixie Straws? They have about the same flavor as a smartie and it's already in a powder form.

you can get 2 pillow cases lay one down and spred the smarties out on them then lay the next pillow case down on it and start smashing with a mallet or something. if you dont want to use a malet you can get a wooden board slay it across and start walkingon it. Its pretty full proof. This is how I smash nuts (he he). icon_biggrin.gif
