cowboy hats to go on the side of a wedding cake?
I was thinking of making them from fondant, would
like to know if you have a easier method.

Well I am not sure but have you looked for a candy mold ? I really can't tell a tech for making per say but first I would find a small glass with a smooth bottom and roll out the fondant then place it over the glass allowing it to drap over the sides and let it dry then take make your bottom of your hat and go from there.....

HTH, I have never made Cowboy hats but not that I think of it you need to put a dip on the so to do that I would take your small painters brush and with your fingers pinch the top of the hat and then pull it apart from each other and until you get the deepth of the dip.

Thanks for replying shyanne...........

U have good ideas,
I did try it,first i rolled out a round circle, from cookie cutter, cut a small
hole in it and then I drapped the fondant over a circle .....made
the top part of the hat and managed to press it into the circle without
any wrinkles. They turned out really cute too.

I'll use a dowel rod to stick in the sides of the cake to hang them on
when I get it delivered. Wish me Lots of Luck.
By the way, the dowel rod was a big help putting the crease in the top
of the Hat.........................................icon_smile.gif
