I apologize if this has already been covered, but my search didn't turn up anything.

I plan on making Ice Cream cone cupcakes for my son's preschool class Monday for his birthday. I want to know what would be the best frosting to use to make it really look like ice cream.

Any ideas?

Welcome to CC!! You'll find this is a great site to share and learn from lots of great people.

I think buttercream works fine. I made some and used a large (4b or 1m) star tip to make a swirl like ice cream on a cone out of the buttercream. You can even stripe your bag with brown color gel and get the twisted white and chocolate look.

Also, I just wanted to mention a transportation idea. I made some Olympic torch cupcakes in ice cream cones for my son's preschool parade. I put contact paper on a pizza box top and cut circles out. I fit 25 nicely in a large pizza box and they all made it without tipping over.

Hope that helps
