Hey, everyone!

I really need your prayers right now, and don't know where to turn to "anonymity" except here. I don't want my family involved/alarmed...

...I've been trying to get pregnant for over a year. I've had all kinds of trouble and today, was supposed to go get blood work to help the doctor make decisions on how to treat my infertility/lack of ovulation. Anyway, on a whim, I took a pregnancy test at home before heading to the doctor, and I was shocked that it was POSITIVE!!! I was thrilled. I went on to the doc, explained this turn of events, and they did a blood pregnancy test instead of the other tests. On my way from the doc to work, because I've been obsessive about a baby, I stopped by Target, bought a different brand of test, took it there in the Target bathroom, and it was POSITIVE, too.

Anyway, this afternoon, I talk to the nurse at my doc's office and my pregnancy was confirmed, but my numbers were very low, so they want to retest in a couple of days. This scares me...am I miscarrying??? She said she didn't know why they were low unless it is really early, but today I was spotting some, too, which I also know can be normal in early pregnancy. It's early...I've not even missed a period yet!

Please pray for me, and let me know if any of you have experienced this. I'm so scared. I want this baby SO BAD, and so does DH...I want to be excited, but I'm really nervous!!!

Thanks,
Becky

Oh Becky, I have been there girl!! Yes, it may be too early. It's very common to spot when your period is supposed to come. I've had 2 miscarriages, with the second one, I took a test and it was positive but the line was really faint. A couple days later I started bleeding and miscarried. But you took two tests and they were both positive. It's sooo hard to say why those numbers are low and I know it's next to impossible to sit there and wait til you can take another test! I wish I could be more help but you've got to wait it out!! I know it's soooo hard. Try to stay calm. When are you going in for another test? Has your spotting stopped or gotten worse?

I'll keep my fingers crossed for ya! I know how badly you want a baby! Feel free to ask me anything about this, like I said, I have been there!

I hope it goes well for you! I'm on a couple of surrogacy boards, and lots of ladies have low betas and go on to have healthy pregnancies.

I'll keep my fingers crossed!

Put your feet up and rest. Try as hard as you can to calm down and think happy, positive thoughts. I have also had problem pregnancies and it doesn't help to worry about things that you cannot do anything about. It seems that when people know you are trying and might be having problems, they will tell you all the horror stories that you do not need to hear. Just be happy and know that you can ask any questions and know that there are many of us that have had just about every situation that can occur in pregnancy and will walk you through your fears. Congratulations and may your dreams come true. Please relax as much as possible.

Hi Becky,
Unfortunately I understand how frustrating it is dealing with fertility issues. I mean it amazes me how easily some people become pregnant. We've been trying for about 8mons. with no luck so far. You'll always get "expert" advice from everyone (most of which have children). I haven't really even discussed it with family b/c I know that they would not understand. I'm trying not to get stressed out about the situation & I think that it's very important for you to do the same. It's difficult sometimes to let God have control, but sometimes that's all we can do. I'm sorry I don't have any advice about the spotting. I've heard of others that had it & had normal pregnancies. I will be praying for you & hoping for the best!
Take care!

I am so sorry to hear what you are going through. Just don't get your hopes up. All the blood work can be so much, but well worth it in the end.

Thank you so much for your words of encouragement, everyone. I'm having such a hard time here. I will go back for more tests tomorrow to see if my levels increased. In the meantime, the spotting seems to have slowed quite a bit...I can only hope that will stop and that all will be well.

Glorioustwelfth, of course you can pm me. Thanks!

Almost the exact same thing happened to my sister....

They tried for a whole year to get pregnant and scheduled an appt. with a fertility specialist when she found out she was pregnant! She started spotting right away and her numbers were very low. The doctor immediately put her on progesterone daily for the first several weeks.

My niece is now a healthy 3 year old!!

I will keep you and your little one in my prayers!

I have my fingers crossed for you!

I went through round after round of fertility drugs, and finally went to injectibles. The cost was insane (thanx to insurance not covering any medication that was fertility related - but thats an issue for another day icon_mad.gif ).

When I finally got pregnant with my first son, the spotting freaked me out... but just like silvercat said...my doctor said it was implantation spotting. I think I spent about a hundred bux on those home pregnancy tests that week.

Here's to positive thoughts, and positive outcomes!!!

Let us know how it goes, I am sure everything will be fine, but if you are like me..you will fret a bit through-out your whole pregnancy...its such a miracle!! My girlfriend has spotting early on in both her pregnancies, so I believe its fairly common! My doctor even said it can be as much as a light period....

Best of luck to you!!

Thank you to all of you for your kind words, encouragement and prayers. This is so scary for me...and you're right, Melanie, I probably will fret throughout the whole thing. My cakes are only my part-time work, but my full-time job is as a medical malpractice paralegal and I see how many things can go wrong with the whole process -- conception, miscarriages, pregnancy, labor, delivery, etc., so yes, I'll probably be the patient from you-know-where.

At any rate, you have all been a Godsend to me!!! Thanks so much!

Fingers crossed, I am trying to persuade DH that it's time for us to conceive, particuarly as I know my tubes are blocked so I feel for anyone trying right now - I so hope things work out for you. The postings have been positive so I'm hoping things will work out.

You are in my thoughts and I am sending lucky hope your way!
I had the same thing both times I fell pregnant (son now 5yrs, daughter 3 years) I knew/hoped really early (before my period was even missed!) that I was pregnant and it only JUST showed up on my home pregnancy test and the doctor's test because it was just sooooo early days!
I also had implantation spotting (just a little bit of it) but everything went fine. The easiest pregnancies of anyone that I know, and after really quick labours, a huge healthy baby each time.
Keep your chin up and I hope everything turns out great!

Your doctors might have to put you on progesterone suppositories like my doctor did for me. The first time I was pregnant I miscarried and the second time my numbers were somewhat low also and I was immediately put on the suppositories. My beautiful son will be 5 next month!

Good luck! Please let us know what the doctors say. I'll be thinking about you!

If you haven't had a missed period yet then your count probably is low because it's so early on. I had to re-take blood tests on a couple of my kids because I was so excited about my barely positive stick test results that I went right away to get it confirmed by the doctor. As long as the count goes up, that's what they're looking for. It should double each day of pregnancy and goes up even faster for twins etc.

I had spotting with my first for just like an hour or so and the doc said it was probably the implantation of the egg so that's always a possibility for you.

So exciting! Just don't worry too much. The healthiest thing you can do is start eating right, drinking lots of water and relaxing icon_smile.gif

I just wanted to thank everyone for their kind thoughts, words and prayers. Unfortunately, God decided to call my little one home and I miscarried last week. Of course, I am heartbroken and devastated, but hold onto the hope that we will be blessed again with another baby someday. Please keep us in your prayers.

I am sooooo sorry to hear that, I know EXACTLY how you feel right now and I know it's just horrible. But try to think of it this way, now you know you can get pregnant so you now have alot of hope! Now your doctors should check you more closely next time. Did they check your progesterone levels at all?
