What would be the best option. It will be a fruit cake as I am about to go on holidays, so I shall be away on the big day! Should I make a small one and place on the cake or risk chopping up a cake to shape!!!!!!

Not sure I understand what you are asking so here is a bump.

A small one would be easiest. That would be hard to carve but you may be up to the challenge. I'm gonna be making a Jeep wrangler cake soon, who knows how it will turn out but I will be doing a lot of carving.
