I really, really want a kitchen aid mixer, but can not afford one right now. At least, not a nicer one. My mixer went up on me (the beaters are completely rusted from the dishwasher and it is an older mixer that I can't replace the beaters) and I need to buy a new one. I have a big cake to make this weekend. So, I went out looking for stand mixers and do not want to buy a cheapy one just to get one. I saw a Sunbeam mixer that is 450 watts and looks comparable to a kitchen aid. It is on sale for $100. Does anyone know about these at all? I also saw a Hamilton beach one that didn 't look too bad, but I have only seen it on line. I did not see it in the stores today. I have $110 right now that I can definetly spend on a mixer and may be able to weasle out another $50 from my hubby. Anyone ever used the sunbeam? Thanks for your help.

I have a very old sunbeam mixer that my mom gave me.......i haven't use it because my DH just bought me a kitchenaid for valentines day. Anyway, she loved her old one but doesn't really care for her new one. If you can weasel out a little more money maybe you can get the kitchenaid from walmart.........LOL

If you check on amazon.com sometimes they have great deals on refurbished kitchen aids. I got my 6qt 525w Pro Kitchen Aid for $149.00 plus free shipping. I would check there first. I always say if not for my Kichen Aid I would not be doing cakes. Good Luck.

I have a Sunbeam mixer (450 watt) & it works fine. I want a kitchen aid too but not enough $$$ for it right now. I was glad to get the Sunbeam because before that all I had was a hand mixer thumbsdown.gif I burned it up though thumbs_up.gif so that when my husband bought me the Sunbeam icon_biggrin.gif

Well, hubby and I went out looking at mixers today and we decided for our money situation, we would give the sunbeam a chance. So, get this (I am totally excited about it) - we went to kohls to see what they had and they had one sunbeam 450 watt left on clearance for $60! Everywhere else I looked it was $139 or more, except at Boscovs on sale for $100. I am totally psyched. That means, I can keep $70 of my money in my "someday kitchen aid" fund and hopefully the sunbeam lasts awhile. Thanks for your advice adn I am glad to know that it won't be a bad buy.
