I am the WORST at pricing my items! I recently did a large wedding cake for my nephew ( it is the square cornelli lace one in my pics) and gave it as my gift to the new couple. I was asked by several people how much I would charge for a cake like that. I don't know! Here what is was: a 14 inch double layer bottom of white cake and buttercream filling, a 12 inch double layer chocolate with chocolate chip buttercream filling on top of that; the middle layers of the cake were one 12 inch double layer chocolate with chocolate chip buttercream and an 8 inch double layer carrot with pineapple buttercream filling; the top layer was an 8 inch double layer carrot with pineapple buttercream. It was all covered in cuttercream and cornelli lace. My area is not that big - our biggest store around in WalMart. I want to be fair but I also want to make some income from this. Any imput would be great. Thanks in advance! icon_biggrin.gif

Okay, first of all, that is one huge cake! icon_eek.gif And, it's beautiful! icon_biggrin.gif

How many people did was it supposed to serve? It's a bc cake with some higher priced fillings, so I would start there -- $3.00 per serving sound right?

Don't know what the guest # was, but start there. Most people start at $2.00 per serving and $3.00 or more for fondant. But, the more in demand you are, the more you can charge.

Hope this helps.

Wow - I make it that that cake would serve around 300 people!!! I charge $3.50 per slice for BC wedding cakes, so my price would be $1050!!!

I'm guessing this served about 300. I would have charged at least $700 minimum. Looks good!

My wedding cakes start at a minimum of $2.50 per serving. With all that corneli lace- I'd probably bump that up to $3.00.
