I love the way this cake turned out. I'm more of a "fondant" person and not too confident when it comes to my IMBC cakes. I've only made a couple. I didn't like the writing on this cake but I did like the ribbons and shamrocks. anyway
This is the first cake I've ever made that someone actually paid for. It wasn't any pressure though because it was for my BF's mother. Every month at her office they get a "Happy March Birthdays" type of cake for everyone. They always got them from Walmart or Giant Eagle and have a $25 monthly cake budget. Since she knows how much I love making cakes she asked me If I'd like to make her monthly Office cake. She asked me mostly so I can practice and she said I can try new things or do whatever I want. I decided to make something a little more traditional for the first month BUT The best part is when you cute the cake open
Its Bright GREEN! I told my BF not to tell anyone except his mom so its a suprise. Hence, St. Patricks Day Suprise Cake.
I got the inspiration from one of ShirleyW's cakes. With the shamrocks and fairy. I Loved it so much because it wasn't all ST. PATRICKS DAY and GREEN GREEN GREEN IN YOUR FACE. haha it was just a touch of St. Pattys day. Mine isn't quite as nice as her's but thats okay.
Oh and I just mixed a bunch of green food coloring into the cake batter, it came out so unbelievably amazing, and with two layers of IMBC filling. I wish I got to eat some!
I talk way too much
The cake looks really nice! I love the ribbons.
Did anyone take pictures of how it looked after cutting it?
Wow! It is fantastic! You did a great job. I'm sure you are going to getting lots of orders now!!
I love the shamrocks! Too cute. I like that it is nice and simple since it is for a lot of people's Birthday. You should be proud of yourself-great job!!
I really love this cake. It's so pretty! Definitely make sure you come back and post the pics of the inside of the cake. That sounds like such a cool idea.
