Just wondering. At my friends birthday party last week I was trying to explain what fondant is. I told them that the stuff on the cake was melted marshmellows and icing sugar. One girl then proceeds to tell me how she uses flour, sugar and butter to make her fondant!! I am assuming that she was either a) mistaken and talking about rolled BC b) on something illegal or c) talking about a fondant recipe that I have never heard of.

This has been bugging me for the last week, so I am wondering if you lovely people would help me clear this up. Please???

She may be talking about candy 'fondant', used for filling chocolates. Of course it is different from 'rolled fondant'.

Flour in fondant? I have never heard of that..I do know there is poured (like on petit fours) and rolled though. And also, I never heard of using marshmallows in fondant until I came here so unless they are familiar with the recipe, they might not realize a marshmallow-based fondant exists.

Maybe she doesn't even know what fondant is. I have never heard of flour in fondant. That would be very interesting.

Any chance you can get the recipe from her?? It might be worth trying out. You could be the next Antonia or Melvira. We would call it "Peachshortcake fondant".
