What's the best icing/glaze to use on a cookie along with an edible image if you plan to package and mail the cookies?

I have been using icing from a tub - Betty Crocker or Duncan Hines. Vanilla flavored. I just put a thin layer on the cookie then place the image on top. I then outline using Fondant icing writers from Wilton. The Fondant icing dries super nice. I just wish they came in more colors.
