Has anyone ever tried the Magnolia Bakery Cupcake recipe? They are in New York, and I hear they are the best cupcakes ever.

Never been to the bakery so I can not say if the cupcakes are awesome or just trendy.

I can't remember if I tried the recipe from the cupcake cafe book or the magnolia book (same stuff different covers). Anyway, the cupcakes were just awful. I made mini cupcakes and even my little neices didn't want seconds. The cupcakes were dense, bland and overly sweet. They went into the trash. I was greatly disappointed.

I checked Amazon's reviews and The Magnolia Bakery cookbook has several negative reviews b/c people tried recipes and they did not turn out properly. The books do have numerous good reviews so do not let my experience stop you from trying the cupcakes.
