Hi
This a birthday cake for my nephew in PR. I went overnight delivery yesterday afternoon and sholud arrive on Friday.

I want to thank Karennayak for her help and inspiration. The cake is butter cake is BC filling and frosting, simple syroup of brandy and Amaretto and cover in fondant. I did want to try mixing gel color and vanilla extract. It was fun and I'm very please with the result. I know is not an exact replica of the sneaker I used but at leat look like one. Please feel free to critique because I will like to perfect my skills.
Thanks
Lizzie

I have one question..How do you package a cake to ship? I'am not brave enough to try this. I'd love to ship one to my brother in VA but I'm afraid of the mailman tipping it on it's side or upside down.

Ok, me too!!!! How on earth do you ship a cake? I'm terrified of just moving it from one table to the next without encountering a disaster!!! You cake is cute!

Hi everyone
It is not that difficult, first t has to be a fondant covered cake. Stack well, I used foam core for the base because I did want the dowel to go thru the cake and the card board. I freeze it for a couple of hour before delivering to the post office. Wrap it in plactic wrap put inside a foam cooler. filled with bubbles wrap al over and the foam cooler place in a regular box. It did not moved because of the bubbles wrap. Hope it helps

Hi Liz,
Congratulations!
The cake turned out Great! No surprise that everyone was impressed. I've seen the original shoe you were replicating and I think you've done a really good job, especially the strips on the sides and the soles of the shoes.

Sorry I didn't see your post earlier.
