is it just me, or does anyone else go through a million billion paper towels when they bake, frost and decorate? i think i went through two entire rolls today...
is there a 12-step program for paper towel addiction? i think i need help!
As SOON as I saw the title of this post I thought "That is SO me!" I use a lot of paper towels in general anyway, but when I'm doing a cake I have about 10 wadded up paper towels on the counter within 10 minutes. I must walk a mile's worth going back and forth between the counter and the trash can. Anyway, yes, I'm addicted!
Me too. Although I have found that using the ones that can be multiple sizes has helped. It is so funny becuase whenever I take a cake that needs to be assemble on site, I bring my own paper towels so I don't have to go through someone elses!
Me too, My DH always laughs when he is in the kitchen with me, he wants me to recycle them and use one for about four hours LOL
I'm a clean freak so I have 20 Clorox wipes in 2 minutes..... Wait theres about 12 VIVA's. Okay count me in for the next Paper Towels Annon. Class. haha
My mom got pissed off at me on Sunday for going through 1/2 of the jumbo roll from Costco w/ one cake.
Hee hee, I started to laugh when I read the subject and knew exactly what it was going to be.
Hi my name is Mary and I'm here because I suffer from this addiction as well....
I have a roll of paper towels in me setup/firstaid kit when transporting and setting up cakes. DEFINITELY FEEL YOU ON THAT ONE!!!!
HAPPY BAKING AND DECORATING!!!
I'm most definately addicted to using alot of paper towels as well, not just with cake decorating but in general as well. So count me in on this one as well.

I love the topic!!! LOL I'm so like that too .... I look across my snackbar after decorating a cake and there is a lake of used papertowels... I'm hard pressed to find an area that doesn't have one wadded up and tossed down or filled with icing where I wiped off my spatula/hands or something ... I need help too! lol
I will join you in admitting I am also a paper towel-aholic! Because the choose a size one's are so expensive around here, I have resorted to just trying to rip them in half when I pull one off and leave the other half for next time, if it's something I can use a smaller amount for. I go through rediculous amounts of the paper towels cleaning up after myself.
OMG.. I thought I was the only one!! LOL
I told DH last week to remind me to buy the cheapest towels I can find to use for cakes because I feel like I am getting a new one every 2 seconds. LOL
I am glad to know there is more PTA's out there!!! (paper towel addicts. LOL)
and the VIVA are definitely off limits to anyone else for anything but smoothing... well, that and I make baby wipes with them too (different roll. LOL)
I've been told that "normal" people use paper towels by the sheet, well, I use than by the yards. It is all too convienent to give a pull and wipe. "Paper Towel-anon" here I come.
Hi, my name is Glenda...I am also a paper-towel addict! It's been about 20 minutes since I used my last paper towel (I've been online for about 30 minutes). I find myself using 4-5 double rolls of paper towels per week. And, I am ashamed to say, there is also a roll in my truck.
Funny part is I was looking at the 2 empty paper towel rolls sitting on my counter this morning and thinking to myself..."I really should save these"...they use them for art projects at the kids' school. And then I thought, I can't save those, they would get on to me because I use so many! I have probably caused 1/2 a forest to die for my addiction!
Anyway, I am a frequent clicker for the breast cancer site, and from there you can link to a save the rainforest site. I click there daily now also,
...I'm trying to give back to all the trees I have killed for paper towels! LOL!
That's very me as well! I love paper towels becaseu they don't have to be washed! A dish rag smells after you use it even after I wring it out and spread it to dry. I hate using them a second time for that reason. Paper towels rule!!
I'm one too! I use them alot and especially when baking and decorating. If I'm going to do a cake and my stash is low, I make sure to buy more. It is just more sanitary and makes it easy to clean-up.
I go on a 'Bounty hunt' daily. lol
It's gotten to the point that if I use them just to dry my hands after washing, I put them over the oven handles to dry and try to remember to reuse them. I should just buy stock in the company - I'd be able to keep myself in business.
My DH and I go through about a roll day. Then when I decorate it's ridiculous. I had to leave some of my decorating supplies at my SIL's house and I am going this weekend to get it all. I called her and asked if all of it was still there, and she said everything but the VIVA'S!!!!!! I used the nicest voice I could to say "that's ok", but inside I wanted to scream at her. I said that these were for decorating cake only, she used them instead of her others to do cleaning in the kitchen. She said that they worked better. GRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!
okay, whew, so i'm not the only one. i have almost an entire garbage can full of wadded up paper towels that i used last night while just frosting and decorating! (the cakes were already baked!) if my dh knew what i was doing in the kitchen, i think he'd leave me! lol
I use them lots too. My DH is horrible about using them, so I guess I have to count him in too. He uses them as kleenex That drives me nuts. Boxes of kleenex all over the house for that purpose, but NO he has to use the forbidden paper towel
I am sure there is help out there for our kind, but why bother, it's just too easy to open another roll and start again. What a sad addiction we have.

I also "hide" the VIVA rolls. My hubby finds them and he gets so upset that I make him use the Scott towels instead.
There is HELP!!!!
Well, not for paper towel use, but for the wads of them. Recycle the grocery bags (you know, plastic with handles that all our supplies for the addictions come in??) as garbage bags for decorating! I tape one handle to the table, and throw everything in it immediately, then throw the whole bag away when I'm done. Saves time and trips to the garbage, and the mess is almost done when you are.
Count me in!!! I was so excited b/c the other day when we went to the grocery, pick a size was on sale, so of course I got a few rolls! When we got home DH was putting them in the pantry and says "Yeah, we need more since we only have 8 rolls..." I said " Uhhh! Hello! Viva is for me not "the house"! We only have 4 rolls!! " He just cracked up and walked away shaking his head.....his reaction was very confusing to me.....
