Hi,
I just finished the Level 1 class (for the 2nd time) and I'm trying to decide if I want to continue taking classes or if I should take a break from it. I'm only doing this as a hobby and I am finding that baking and decorating a cake a week is very hard on my schedule. So, I'm wondering how many cakes do you have to make for the other classes (Level 2, 3, and the new gumpaste/fondant class) and how often?

Thanks,
Christine

I think for course II you only bring a cake to the last class. Then for course III we had to take 2 cakes. I didn't take the gumpaste so I cant help with that one.

Of course all instructors are different icon_confused.gif , but in my classes we only had to make 1 cake in Course 2, and that was on the last day. The Course 3 class, we had to have two (technically 3 icon_rolleyes.gif ) cakes. One on the second night of classes and the grand finale on the last night of classes which is actually putting together your first tiered cake icon_eek.gif . I have not been through the fourth set of classes they have yet (am signed up to go the first week of March icon_biggrin.gif ), but I understand that we will have to have 2 cakes - one the second night and one on the fourth night. Hope this helps! thumbs_up.gificon_smile.gif

I know someone will correct me if I am wrong, and I hope they do I don't want to give wrong information.

For Course 2 I only recall baking one cake, and it was for the last class.
For Course 3 I baked a total of 3 cakes. One I actually did an 8" square Rice krispy treat "cake" It was iced and ready to decorate in fondant when I went to class, and my Teacher didn't believe me it was rice krispies! It went really well. Then the other two cakes were for the wedding cake. I did a 10" square double layer for the bottom and a 6" double layer round for the top.

As for the gumpaste/fondant class I am still waiting for it to be available a little closer to home.
