I got a Fuji digital camera and when taking pics you have to click the shutter down halfway for camera to capture and focus then click it fully down to take the pic. It's kinda annoying especially since I'm trying to get pics of son at his track meets and missing some good shots (except for at the start line). Oh, and tried to use the sport events feature....not working icon_cry.gif . I'm practicing but thinking about exchanging for another brand. But, do other cameras that some of you use work the same? Just curious since I can't make up my mind about exchanging.
Thanks for any feedback.

I just got a Canon A610 this week. And it does this, the focus adn then takes the shot, but only in one press.
It has a small delay, but i must say, i just love this camera!!!

I have a Sony Cyber Shot - 5.1 megapixels and I really like it! It does have a delay but very minimal. You can set it to take several shots in a row, such as sports. In my case it is little ones. It is great for cakes too. Good Luck and I hope you find one that works for you.

I have the Kodak Easyshare 4.0 megapixels with different ways you can take pictures, such as, sports, night, still-life, etc. and it has a camcorder...don't use that often, takes up to much room.

I have the Kodak Easyshare DX7630. It's a 6.1 MP. It has a multitude of different settings, i.e. sports, nighttime, landscape, indoors, snow, outdoors, camcorder...You have to do the half-click thing for it to focus on the indoor setting one. The sports feature is really good. I haven't noticed a delay when I use that. I really love it.

press it down halfway and it will adjust the focus and apature till it beeps then release it. Do this on someone else before your son. The camera will not change the focus if left on. When your son gets to the same spot press it fast so it dont change. I have done this with my camera a lot.

Shoot him in the leg during the race.
He'll fall down and you can get a really good picture.
Believe me, he'll thankyou later for capturing those memories.
No need to thank me.

I have a Sony Cyber-shot 2.1. It's old and out dated. A good camera but I know there are better ones out there. I think it's time for a new one. Batterie went dead in this one a long time ago and now we can only take pictures where the is an electrical outlet.

I have the same one, and after comparing it to what other members of my family have I think it's a pretty good camera. Takes great photos and is easy to transfer to the computer. Don't care for the printer dock that came with it though.

LOL I feel soooooo stupid. For well over a year my husband and I have not been able to use this camera unless we had it plugged in to an outlet because the lithium battery went dead. The other day my husband was looking at it and saw that we can use "AA" batteries in place of the lithium!!! lol Now we don't need the outlet! lol So silly....

I have the same camara SweetBaker. Its the Fujifilm FinePix 5.1, right? Most digital camaras, unless very high quality, you have to focus by pressing halfway, and then fully for the pic to be captured. I hate the delay too!! My baby started walking at 8.5 months and she started out walking pretty fast! It was hard to capture all those first steps and I was MAD!! But, I've since learned that, since I don't really print any of my digital prints off, they just stay on my computer, I got a really nice 35mm professional camara with super zoom and auto focus. No bells and whistles, just nice crisp PERFECT pictures, and thats all I wanted. I keep my digital for pictures of my cakes.

thats just sooooo funny!!!! icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif in my house we are all known as picture fanatics. at all the reunions we are almost always the only ones with cameras!! i have a 35 mm that has the delay. but if you have it on the sports(action ) it'll just take really quick consecutive shots(PICS NOT BULLETS). my husband has the cyber shot 5.1 and does not (as far as i know) have a delay but i could be wrong it has happened b4!!
i would just play around with it b4 the next big day or event so you can learn all the quirks and perks b4 hand... icon_smile.gif

....the short pause is the nature of the beast....I have pro digital slr camera....spent the big bucks on it~ same delay. I've tried to outsmart it by doing the focus part and then waiting for the shot...not always possible, but sometimes helps. My sons were wrestlers and my daughter a competition baton twirler so I've fought this for years. Fortunately, my cakes sit still for me when my kids didn't!!!!!!! Maybe the techies will remedy this for us someday. It's the only downside I know to digital photography. The Fuji cameras are wonderful cameras~ great reviews!
