Has anyone made this chocolate syrup frosting using cocoa? It calls for unsweetend cocoa though.
do you mean using regular drinking cocoa as opposed to unsweetened cocoa?
Hummmmmmmm I'll have to re read the ingrreidents
Okay heres what it calls for
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder . Why can't you use reg. cocoa powder?
i'm not sure what you mean by regular cocoa powder, but i have made this frosting before with Hershey's unsweetened cocoa and also with Droste dutch-processed cocoa.
here's a link to the Hershey cocoa i used.

Okay THANKS , will have to run out to the store for the unsweetened stuff tomorrow.
Regular cocoa powder has no sugar. Cocoa Mix has sugar. Cocoa has cocoa solids, period. The only thing that varies is the Ph ( natural versus dutch cocoa) and percentage of cocoa butter.
In other words. The regular can of Hershey's cocoa is unsweetened.
OH GOSH! THANKS for the infor TXKAT now I don't need to go and purchase it!
Can anyone tell me if this frosting can be used to decorate with? I have a small 3D bear cake to make for my daughter. Will it work on this?
Thanks for any help!
