How To Stiffen Store-Bought Icing

If there is anyone out there who can tell me how to make this sutff thicker so that it will hold the ridges of my piping tip, I would REALLY appreciate the help.
Thanks!
Do you mean like the Betty Crocker or Duncan Hines type icing? I don't know if it can be thickened, but the only way I would know to thicken it would be to add powdered sugar.
You might want to add some powdered sugar to thicken it up.
The store bought icing is usually more of a whipped consistency than creamy so you might want to add 1/2 cup of shortening too so that it 'behaves' with the tips.
if you buy the new DH whipped icing (its a double size container too) then it holds up. This is the stuff i use. You can also add powedered sugar to it as well. My family really liked the taste of DH vanilla so i have to use this stuff from time to time. I find it 10times easier though cause all you do is pop open the lid, no mixing and measuring just start icing.
