I was at kroger yesterday and of course had to stop at the bakery .
I noticed that their 1/4 sheet was about 7 by 10 inches
Have any of you guys seen this before??

Yes. I saw one at Food Lion. I think it was listed as a 1/8 sheet cake.

Actually it was written that it was a 1/4 sheet
I even ask the baker and she said it was a 1/4 sheet

The one I saw at Food Lion was listed as a 1/8 sheet cake and I think it was $7.88.

I thinkyou make and 11x15 and cut it in half. But I have seen a smaller 1/4 sheet pan. Personally, I think people are getting ripped off buying this size as a 1/4. If they want a small cake and are told the size then it's ok. i split an 11x15 for a brother and sister having a combined party, so they could each have their own cake.

It probably was mislabeled that happens in stores sometimes carelessness.... But it was probably 1/8 sheet Walmart has them too they are suppose to feed 12 people. I use too hate decorating racks of those little cakes!

They did have 1/8 sheet but that was half the size

Oh, I used to love Food Lion when we were stationed at Langley AFB, Va. I miss that store sooo much!!!

tcturtleshell , I love Food Lion too. Their produce it so good. I shopped there while we were stationed at Little Creek Amphib base in Norfolk VA. When we PCS to Malmstrom AFB in Montana, I was in shock, NO FOOD LIONS there. I was so glad when we got back here SJAFB NC. I love the commissary but sometimes they just don't carry all that I need.

There is a 7 x 11 sheet pan. I got mine from the cake store I work at last year. The company we ordered them from have dicontuned them, but you still might be able to find them.

1. there is no standard!. No matter where you go or who you ask, everyone has their own version as to what constitutes what size
2. choose what sizes you wish to make - make up a dummy to display as an example of a quarter/half/full sheet [something they can hold in their hands].
3. have a cutting chart for the sizes you have chosen, together with a calculation of how many servings per cake
4. make sure your tins will fit in your oven.

ALL of these examples have been collected from numerous sites on the Internet. Lots agreed with some: lots don't match anyone: and lots make up their own [especially when they make and manufacture cake tins/pans.].

The annoying/worrying trend is companies that are pushing small slab tins as "sheet pans" - they would not produce the required number of serves for a business situation.

Haha, and to further confuse the issue, the customers call anything rectangular shaped, a sheet cake. When you press them for size, they just name a store and say they want a cake like that store carries, haha! So I just ask them how many people they want it to serve.

True - you usually find that they are calling the smaller size 7x11 a quarter sheet and charging the 9x13 price!!

I agree with SquirrellyCakes. Most people don't know what size they really need. It's best to find out how many they plan on serving and then let them know what size you think they should go with.

I had someone tell me they knew they were going to have to get a full sheet and it was for a 13 year olds birthday party. After I asked how many kids she said about 30. I explained the different options and prices and she settled on a 12 X 18 to just have some extra. Some people will want to have extra. If I had assumed her on the full... the cake would have been RIDICIOUSLY large for her party.
