I'm a celebrity gossip nut , saw this today and thought my fellow CC would get a kick out of it.
Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes filled a rented Hollywood Hills home with $17,000 worth of fresh flowers and spent almost $5,000 on cakes for daughter Suri's second birthday bash on Saturday. The couple ordered personalized cakes from Los Angeles' Sweet Lady Jane bakery for all 24 guests, and a four-tiered treat was served up to the birthday girl. Cruise also ordered $230 worth of cupcakes from LA bakery Sprinkles - wife Holmes' favorite cake shop.

All that cake for 24 guests?? Sounds like my kind of party!
Now to only find a picture of it..........
Wow that is a lot of cake!
OK, I found the main cake picture:
Why does that man look like he's about to take a chomp out of it?
She is such a cute little girl.
What do people do with all that leftover cake!!??!
It's a pretty cake for a pretty girl!
the cake he is carrying was HER cake... according to the qoute.... that probably was a lot of cake if everyone had individual ones... it looks to me like he is holding it up with his chin.. hehehehehe
she is a lovely little lady, looks like mommy with Tom's nose!
LOL where can I find these cake shoppers? A few of these per year and I could work less than part time.
I cant see all those Hollywood people even eating cake? They probably had a line to the bathroom to purge it all! lol
Must be nice to have that kind of money to throw around!
Wow! What's funny is that I bet anyone on this website could do that cake easy! I mean its cute and all, but $5,000 for that? Seriously..
HA!!!! Purge it all!!!
That's not a huge cake.. 4-6-8-10.. 65 servings (by my chart anyway). I'm sure she got to smoosh it all up. And $230 isn't a ton of custom cuppies when you order from Sprinkles. They are close to $50/dozen when they are custom orders I think. It's $36/dozen for off the shelf.
Ahh to have that sort of disposable income.. *sigh*
Cute cake too!!
I can hear myself taking this order: "Yep. $208.33 per serving. We think that's fair."
I was thinking the same thing too....$5000 for that cake seems a bit much...but who am I to say!
She is super cute!
The OP said Sweet Lady Jane Bakery:

Oh to have $$ like that to spend!
Well look at that.. I pulled a dumba$$ and missed that totally.
Thanks for point it out though!
What a crappy website though.. for $5000 for a cake order they sure did skimp on the site..
Under wedding cake prices on their website it says that they begin at $7 per serving. Does that mean the whole cake can be displayed on a (coffee cup) saucer?

I think the whole "paid $5000 for a cake" kinda took over the message making it easy to miss who made it!
LOL @purged. Surely.
Well, the OP says they paid $5,000 in cakes. This big one for Suri and then personalized ones for each guest. 25 cakes for $5000 is OK in my book. If you can get it, good for you! Having JLo and Pete Sampras on your client list probably helps too.
i'm prob not supposed to tell, but we just had a bride (at a wedding planning firm that i cannot disclose the name of ) pay $26000 for a sylvia cake! can you freakin' imagine?!? ahh what a life it must be...
Actually, just doing some quick math...this *could* make sense.
If that is a 4, 6, 8, 10 cake, serving, say, 80 wedding size pieces, and guessing @$9.00 a serving, that's $720.00. Add $230 for the cupcakes. And 24 guests, if they each took home an 8" individualized cake with 24 servings at about $7.00/serving each, for $4032 in guest cakes...that's
720 + 230+ 4032 = $4982.00
Zowie. Not unreasonable, just very, very generous...if that's how it worked.
P.S--LOL at the purging. Who in that group, besides Suri and maybe Tom, would even finish a piece of cake? Maybe that's what the cupcakes were for. Or maybe the 4-tier is a dummy--it sure looks like it's not very heavy, the way he's carrying it...
Must be nice to have all that moolah!
My husband and I recently went to Beverly Hills and I purchased 2 dozen cupcakes from Sprinkles. I just had to go there after I heard that Oprah gets her cupcakes from there. It was $80 for the 2 dozen. They were o.k. but I thought they'd be better. They were kinda dry and didn't last very long. They all had a colored dots on the top indicating which flavor they were. I never made it over to Lady Jane Bakery...now I wish I had made time to go there!
LOL @purged. Surely.

Okay, well that's a bit better. I don't remember reading that there was any other cake besides the one in the photo on this thread.

How many servings? Do you know? I've tasted one of Sylvia's cakes. My husband told me I could have done better.
Yeah on the Sylvia cakes, I just had a bride tell me that her (Sylvia's) yellow cake that I gave them to try was "Moist enough, but could you make it not so dense? I mean, it's good and everything, but...it's not like anyone's going to be lining up for seconds."
... I was not amused. I figure, if it's good enough for Sylvia's brides, it's good enough for mine.

Oh, it was in the very first post.
I just read on another site that they spent $17,000 in flowers and a grand whopping total of $100,000 for her birthday party! Must be nice to be Suri Cruise! All family and close friends, no celebrities.
Here's a better pic of the cake. The theme for the party was butterflies.
I think you all could have done a way better job on the cake! So many of the cakes on here are real beauts!!
That cake looks like its leaning to one side. And I know that there are so many talented members here, who could have done far more better job than that.
And I have to say, that the web site is crap.
